The Dope Kid Festival is an annual day long event held in Washington, DC area. The festival is an event to promote literacy through reading, rhyming, and rapping.  It also promotes a sense of pride and usefulness of Hip Hop culture in education and learning. A great reader creates a great rhymer which creates a great rapper.  This event is geared towards diverse families with school aged and young children. It is also geared toward adults raised during the golden age of Hip Hop and beyond. It consists of a musical concert with various children’s music acts, dance performances, and a talent showcase. There will be numerous story times and book readings. It will also include a Read-A-Thon where children are rewarded for reading a book or participating in story time. There will be numerous book vendors as well as vendors that represent other children’s activities like sports, arts, educational programs and so much more!
